Painting Studio
Do you create art or want to? Indulge yourself and join fellow artists once every month for creative thoughts, conversations, and art critiques. Each month artists will bring their inspired creation from the prior months theme for a collaborative critique/discussion and the opportunity to hang your artwork/poetry/writing on the third floor in the Center for the Arts. Open studio when no classes are in session. Check studio schedule at door to the studio. Fee includes use of studio equipment (Takach 24 by 48 etching press, large drying rack, and an array of other amenities). Artists must supply their own materials.

In this one-day workshop we will create random-weave baskets. This will be a free form project that can include the use of many natural and found materials. The basket could be entirely utilitarian or a sculptural feat!

In this one-day workshop you will learn a basic type of printmaking. We will explore the mono-print (a unique one-time print) as well as chine-colle (a one-time collaged print of ink and paper.) You will create unique designs with handmade paper scraps, and a variety of paints and inks. This is a great way to make simple designs for unique cards or wall hangings!

Enjoy the pleasure of gathering flowers and plants to be used for the purpose of dyeing yarns and fabrics. Simmer the plant materials to the desired shades and submerge the hanks of fibers into the dye bats to watch the amazing colors appear. Take home a sample card with a series of skiens of wool dyed with natural dyes. |

Princess Crown making with Babs Case
Work with one of our communities most creative individuals – to create a crown that shows off your fantasy self. This light hearted approach to art making will include the use of found objects and collage in creating a three dimensional piece of art. Get in touch with your inner royalty!

Floral Art with Ian Whipple
Ian builds unique creations that are more like sculpture or miniature Zen gardens then traditional flower arrangements. This class will show you how to collect locally found materials, grocery store produce and flowers to create works of art.
June 18
Silent meditation hike and Land Art with Ben Roth
Walk through the woods in silent thought. Arrive at a site where Ben Roth will guide you in the creation of a site specific Land Art piece.
June 25
Basket making on the Snake River with Valerie Seaberg
Learn how to build unique natural vessels with local artist Valerie Seaberg. Class meets at Emily Stevens pond where you will learn how to collect, build and embellish your won three dimensional basket. |

Blanket Stories Sewing Circle with Marie Watt
Saturday, June 21, 9am – 12pm

No sewing experience necessary.
Sign Me Up!
Marie invites community members to attend this Sewing Circle, where they will help her stitch recycled wool blankets into an intricate design. Participants are encourage to bring fabrics, recycled clothes to integrate into their work or share in a community box of fabric. We will start the sewing circle and just visit, talk about sewing experiences, stories, and memories relating to favorite items of cloth. Those who participate in The Sewing Circle or donate blankets to the Community Blanket Stack receive a Marie Watt silk-screen print, courtesy of the artist. |
