FOOD & CLAY:
HAND BUILDING TECHNIQUE

Sam Dowd

Course Description
Explore using hand-building methods to make utilitarian tableware. Beginners will be introduced to hand-building skills and advanced students will be given more complex challenges. We will work with slabs to fabricate forms, while adding additional parts with coils and extrusions. We will learn about making and using templates to develop and duplicate shape design, make handmade stamps and use other decoration techniques such as silk screens to print on clay. Class will be completed with a dinner potluck, using serving ware that we have made. This class is for students of all levels. 25 pounds of clay included.
