| Course Description |
This will be a fast paced two day workshop, with both demonstrations and time for participants to make pots,
focusing on pots with lids: casseroles, tureens and covered jars. I will show techniques for making different kinds of lids, and will discuss function and aesthetics of various choices. Each morning will begin with a demonstration. On day 1, I will make the parts for various pots, and on day 2, I will assemble the parts. Each afternoon, workshop participants will have a chance to try their hand. Day 2 will conclude with a demonstration and discussion of my glazing techniques.
One bag of clay included with firing, glaze and 2 weeks of open studio. |

Sarah Jaeger has been a studio potter in Helena, MT since 1987. She received a BA in English literature from Harvard and a BFA from Kansas City Art Institute. In 1996 she was awarded an Individual Artist Fellowship from the Montana Arts Council and she was a United States Artists Target Fellow in 2006. In the spring of 2007 she was one of the artists profiled in the PBS documentary Craft in America. She has taught a Pomona College, the New York State College of Ceramics at Alfred and the University of Nebraska-Lincoln and has given many public workshops at many schools and art centers nationally.
