WHERE THE WILD THINGS ARE:
OUTDOOR EXPLORATIONS |
|
| Course Description |
Are you ready to venture out into the world, seeing it through the eyes of an artist and explorer? With sketchbook in hand, we will go out and about to observe nature up close and personal each day, weather permitting. After collecting materials and making our own observations on these morning outings, we will return to the classroom to create artwork from what we find, inspired by storybooks and studies in science. Bring your own sketchbook or let us provide you with one!
MONDAY – A BUG’S LIFE
Invent your own bugs from natural materials and fun art and
crafty items! We will make our own “handmade video installations” with our creations!
TUESDAY – WHAT FLOATS
Take part in designing your own outdoor “waterscape,” a scene we will create using found materials, sand and water, then float your own art boat!
WEDNESDAY – WILD ABOUT TREES
What is life like as a tree? Use found materials and paint to decorate your very own birdhouse to hang in one of those trees!
THURSDAY – UP, UP AND AWAY
If it has wings will it fly? If you could fly what would you be?
After learning from the birds, make your own wings and take
to the skies!
FRIDAY – FLOWER POWER Look closely, what do you see? How many petals, any butterflies or bees? Spray on your flower power or other design on your
own t-shirt!
