SCULPTURAL CLOTHING AS ART |
Abbie Miller |
| Course Description |
How do sculpture and fashion collide? In this class we will
focus on fabric manipulation and sculptural techniques as a way to construct functional clothing. Using the basic a-line skirt as a foundation we will create three-dimensional garments that express volume, mass and space. Students will explore personal ideas through a range of materials including cloth, plastic, boning, and paper in relationship to the body. A history about the conflation of art and clothing will be covered as well as contemporary fiber artists and designers. Sewing machine required, hand sewing, and some textile experience preferred.
