MAKING A MOVIE FROM START TO FINISH

Course Description
This course provides the fundamentals for shooting video and working with editing software to create your own movie. Students begin with a discussion of the main elements to produce a storyline, head to the field to gather video and then return for hands on completion in the editing room. Let’s make a story! Students will be required to use their own cameras.
Instructor

Lori Zalbowitz's experience both in front of the camera and behind it provide a unique perspective with creating family documentaries. Her experience within the TV/production industry is vast, encompassing both one of the largest broadcast corporations - ESPN - and one of the smallest - KJWY NBC2 Jackson, WY. Her skills range from producer/director to reporter, and she has covered everything from the controversial elections of 2000 to the Western Wildfires.

While working for ESPN, Lori was a member of the Emmy Award winning crew for the X Games. In addition, Whole Story Productions is the recipient of the Telly Award, competing against entries from all 50 states and five continents. Her projects are included in the Smithsonian Archives and she has also produced comprehensive travel videos from the Northern Karakoram to China.

Lori has a Masters Degree in Communication from Columbia University.
