| Course Description |
Found objects in the field (outside the studio) or maybe something the artist created/designed/arranged themselves. What is the status of the ready-made? More and more, humans’ leave behind detritus in the landscape (i.e.: a big rig tire tread, railroad tie, or souvenir cup) Students will use the camera to describe the sculptural: assigning formal value to both the object and landscape through the fixed single still image composition. Students are encouraged to develop their own portfolio culminating in critique.
Classes will meet once a week for six weeks. |

Thomas Macker received his MFA from CalArts in Photography and Media. He recently transplanted from Los Angeles, CA where he was working as an artist, curator, editorial photographer, and video journalist/filmmaker. As an artist/curator he has exhibited his work in Los Angeles, Chicago, New York, and abroad. For WhyTuesday.org, he wrote, shot, directed, and edited for the organization’s website video blog, which was distributed internationally through various web and broadcast outlets including L.A.
