KAL Drawn from The Economist
Artspace Main Gallery
September 10 – October 25 , 2010
Opening Reception: Friday, September 10 | 5:30 – 7:30pm
An exhibit filled with work that is both timely and relevant to current world affairs. KAL’s work expresses a strong inquiry and audit of the government’s rationale for going to war and continued excessive use of power. Weather poking fun of steroids in sports or high oil prices, his caricatures break down his subjects to create a window into their personalities, especially their weaknesses. This exhibit will feature national and international political satire and cover a broad range of social issues.
KAL’s work has appeared in more than 100 publications world wide, most recognized for his work in the international award-winning editorial The Economist magazine of London. Kevin Kallaugher’s genres span from cartoon, caricature, sculpture, to animation, with works exhibited at the Tate Gallery in London, Library of Congress in Washington, and solo exhibitions in London, New York, Washington, and Baltimore.
